Ettelbruck and Medical and Social SocietyAgricultural education in Ettelbruck
In the middle of the 19th century, the first agricultural school was created in the city Echternach. It was only in 1880 that the agricultural school was integrated with the secondary school in Ettelbruck. Then, three years later, the State Agricultural School was founded in Ettelbruck. In 1927, a law was voted to create a new agricultural school on Salentiny Avenue. The school changed its name in 1971 to become the Institute of Agricultural Education. In 1979, this name was changed to Agricultural Technical School (LTA), which remains the present name of the school.Agricultural Technical SchoolThe current subjects at the Agricultural Technical School include horticultural and agricultural education, the training of mechanics for agricultural machinery and a section dedicated to the natural environment. At the present time, 630 students attend the Agricultural Technical School, whereas the building was originally intended for 150 to 200 students. All the more reason to establish a new agricultural school at Gilsdorf in the Nordstad region.Medical and Social SocietyThis year the Ligue Medico-Sociale (Medical and Social Society) celebrates its 100th anniversary. Founded in 1908, the Medical and Social Society has fought, from the beginning, against tuberculosis and social exclusion. Gradually, it has put in place the foundations for medical and social prevention as well as social assistance for our country. Ever since, it has never ceased identifying the needs of society and creating assistance and intervention techniques for the population. Thanks to a team of 140 professionals from medical disciplines, social assistance, etc. the League is able to intervene quickly and offer gracious and accessible services to the entire population of the country. The Medical and Social Society includes the following services: medical and social service, respiratory disease service, social accompaniment service, the regional social action service, the Healthy Life service, service and counsel in matters of over-indebtedness, service for little children, and social assistance information.
