Football in Finland

Football Association of Finland

The jubilee stamp for the Football Association of Finland underlines the association's work for children and young people, work for which it has been given international recognition. The gummed 0.70 euro stamp shows a girl and a boy in the heat of the game. The background behind the players is a large blue-and-white football, the insignia of the centenary year of the Football Association of Finland.
In terms of devotees, the Football Association of Finland is the country's largest sports association. Its more than a thousand member clubs have over 112,000 registered players.

Stamp has an unusual shape

The football postage stamp has an unusual shape. The right-hand edge of the stamp follows the rounded shape of the ball. In other respects, the stamp is rectangular. Only the left vertical edge is perforated.
The collage on the stamp was assembled and manipulated digitally from several photographic images. Susanna Rumpu and Art Lakaniemi designed the postage stamp. Ari Lakaniemi, Juha Tamminen and Jussi Eskola (Football Association of Finland) took the photos used on the stamp.
