The four motifs were selected from over 3300 MMS photos submitted by the general public in the "Swiss mobil - a country on the move" competition.First MMS stamps in the worldOn 6 September 2005 Swiss Post will celebrate a premiere: the first MMS stamps in the world will become available from this date. The four motifs were selected from entries to "Swiss mobil - a country on the move", a competition organized jointly by Swiss Post, Swisscom Mobile and the Museum for Communication in Bern. From 1 February to 21 March 2005 more than 3,300 MMS pictures taken by the owners of mobile phone cameras were submitted. The 100 pictures with the most votes from the public made it to the final round. A specialist jury then selected four MMS photos, which now feature on the new stamps.InnovationThe MMS stamps are the latest in a series of creative and innovative stamps from Swiss Post such as the world's first embroidered stamp, the stamp that smells of chocolate or the wooden stamp.SMS + picture + sound = MMSAnyone who wants to send or receive an MMS message needs a suitably equipped mobile phone. Most of these devices include a digital camera, allowing you to take photos, or even to record video sequences, simply and quickly. MMS messages can be sent to other mobile phones, as well as to e-mail addresses. The recipient can look at the message and read it directly on the computer screen, without the use of a mobile phone. The various MMS services, fur which there is a charge, are popular for receiving the latest news from the world of politics, the economy, sport, etc. in sound and pictures.Stamps DetailsIssue: Switzerland, 6 September 2005Design: Atelier Beat Leuenberger, Bern Print: Offset, Austrian State Printing Office, Vienna More information Stamps Switzerland Postage stamps 2005 Comic strip America's Cup Stamp Day 2002 in Lyss Swiss Christmas stamp |
