Cats on stamps

Kitty Aland

The cat photo competition "Kitty Aland" is now over. Here we see the results of the Aland public photographing their cats with the two cat stamp issues. From all received photos ten finalists were picked, which could be admired in Alandsposten Filateli 4/2002. In the final round the cat "Randi" was voted winner of the competition "Kitty Aland". The photo is taken on its favourite cliff in the municipality of Geta in the northern parts of Aland with the Aland archipelago in the background.

Finalist photos for a stamp

Apart from the winner the Aland Post Stamp Group chose another of the finalist photos for a stamp. The choice fell on the kitten "Tovis", residing in the municipality of Lemland. The photographers behind the two winning cat photos are named as the stamp artists and rewarded with a photographer's fee and a framed enlargement of the stamp photo.

More kitty products The winning cats "Wandi" and "Tovis" are additionally depicted on a postcard each issued on the same day as the stamps, 14 March. The cards cost 0.50 € each. The stamp with "Randi" is also available in a miniature frame, while "Tovis" the cat will have its own pin.
