AIMs

Civil enginering

AIMs AIMs represents all specialist civil engineers graduating from the Polytechnics Faculty. AIMs is an non-profit association set up in 1853 by Théophile Guibal, one of the founders of the Polytechnic Faculty in 1836 (first engineering college in Belgium).

Qualification-content of civil engineer

AIMs examines, studies and discusses all issues with a bearing on the professional, pecuniary and moral interests of its members, in particular defence of the qualification-content of civil engineer (Ir.). It works close alongside other universities and associations and the FABI (federation of engineers).

Cultural and professional nature

AIMs organises activities having a cultural and professional nature, such as conferences, discussions, publications, excursions, exhibitions, competitions, etc., and recreational activities to draw even closer the bonds of friendship and solidarity that unite its members. In this spirit it created, and now manages, a mutual aid fund generously built up by its members. Its outreach also benefits students through targeted social and scientific scholarships and prizes.

CERN

The one-hundred-and-fiftieth anniversary, in the year 2003, will see many and various events, including a visit to CERN in Geneva and Airbus in Toulouse, plus a many-facetted family day out around an historical theme.
Issue: Belgium, 17 March 2003
