Today, 325,000 girls and boys, women and men are members of 1,800 clubs that are affiliated with the Norwegian Football Association. That makes it Norway's largest sports association. On Saturday, 13 April a national poll will be launched to find the greatest moments in Norwegian football history. The moments that get the most votes will be the subjects of a new stamp issue on 20 September 2002. German referee on Norwegian stampThe four different stamps in the booklet are the result of a photo competition among the Norwegian people. One of the motives shows a very determined football referee. Having done a lot of investigations about the motives, Norway Post first thought this was a Norwegian referee, but it soon turned out to be the German referee Peter Hertel from Berlin. Mr. Hertel has experienced a lot of attention from the press, since this was brought to knowledge, but he takes it very sporty, as the good sportsman he is.It is very rare to be portrayed on a Norwegian stamp when you are still alive, and even more special when you are from a foreign country!
