Christ's birth

Christ's birth, 2000 years ago, marked the beginning of our calendar and the history of Christianity. It can hardly be denied that this event was and still is of great importance in the evolution of mankind.

Contribution Christianity

Christianity undoubtedly contributed to humanisation and also accounts for some obscure episodes of mankind. A whole year through Christians commemorated their founder's birthday, considering the positive and negative aspects of their history. On an international basis, the Catholic Church started the Holy Year on Christmas 1999 with the opening of the Holy Door of the Basilica San Pietro in Rome by Pope John Paul II.
