Musical instruments

A series of four postage stamps depict musical instruments. The stamps were printed in two-tone photogravure by Hélio-Courvoisier in Switzerland.

Like Belgium and The Netherlands Luxembourg issued a stamp depicting Charles V. In the year 1500 Charles was born and later he became the ruler of nearly whole Western Europe.

Christmas

On 30 November 1999 some very interesting postage stamps were issued in Luxembourg. A drawing of the Belgian artist Michel Demart, who works and lives in Luxembourg, was used for this year's Christmas stamp.

New 1999 Issues of Luxembourg

Europe

Two postage stamps were issued on the theme parks and natural reserves. The first stamp in this series is dedicated to the Haute-Sûre National Park. The second stamp pictures the footbridge in Ardennes-Eifel National Park near Echternach, which connects the two banks of the Sûre.

Postal conference

This nice stamp of Luxembourg memorizes the first international postal conference. In 1863 a conference was held in Paris on the initiative of the Postmaster General of the United States of America, Montgomery Blair, to try to pursue the postal reform process at an international level.
