New postage stamps from Luxembourg

Luxembourg issued a series of two special se tenant postage stamps 75 years of the Horticulture Federation were issued. A se tenant is a block of commemorative stamps printed together on the same sheet but differing in design, color, value, or overprint.

Rowland Hill

The English postal reformer Rowland Hill was born in 1795 in Kidderminster (Worcestershire). His father managed a school in Birmingham. In 1807 Rowland Hill became a student-teacher at his father's school. As a sideline Rowland Hill was an inventor, although most of his ideas were never used.

The Falkland Islands Post Office introduced a Christmas card rate of 20p for internal delivery and therefore require a new value within the Definitive series. The stamp depicts the Black-browed Albatross with Chick.

The idea submitted by Trimbach-based graphic artist Bruno Castellani came out top with the general public in this year's stamp competition on the theme of the 150th anniversary of Olten the railway town.

The heraldic lion of Finland adorned the jubilee issue for the 150th anniversary of the Finnish postage stamp in 2006. In honor of the 150th anniversary of the Finnish stamp, a miniature sheet was issued on 27 October 2006 in scintillating red, blue and gold, on the theme of the lion coat of arms of Finland on Finnish stamps.

New postage stamps from Luxembourg

Luxembourg Post issued a series of two postage stamps in September 2006 in remembrance of the first banks in Luxembourg. Both stamps have a face value of 50 cent.

The birds depicted in this stamp issue represent the broad spectrum of bird life for which the Falkland Islands has become internationally famous. Four of the species depicted on the postage stamps are commonly found in season in the Islands while the Wandering Albatross (60p) is found only in offshore waters on the fishing grounds.

There were six new stamp releases in May in Finland. The stamps portray the historic Sveaborg Seas Fortress, and the 400-year-old town of Vaasa and more. In May 14 different postage stamps were released.
