Camber Railway
The Camber railway was a single line of 24-inch gauge approximately 3 1/2 miles in length and was built during 1915 and 1916. It remained in use until the late 1920's. The railway was required when in World War One the Admiralty installed a new communications system, a powerful spark transmitter with an array of high aerials that could be seen to dominate the horizon to the west of town.

The Falkland Islands have a fascinating maritime history, primarily because of the Islands location, close to one of the great trading routes of the world, Cape Horn. More than 100 shipwrecks are known to lie around the Falklands' rocky shores and a number of historically significant vessels condemned and converted for use as storage hulks are still visible.

Pebble Island, with a length of 31 kilometers and land area of some 8900 hectares, is the third largest offshore island in the Falklands. Its diverse terrain combines moorlands, ponds, and wetlands together with pristine sand beaches, dramatic coastal cliffs, and rocky peaks rising to 277 meters.

There were eight stamps issued in 1888-89 to commemorate the New South Wales Centennial. The stamps were the world's first stated commemorative stamps. Each stamp is inscribed "100 years".

Many Renaissance rulers hired mercenary troops from time to time and paid them out of the proceeds of conquered territory, ransoms, confiscation of property and looting. Alongside mercenary troops as such, many rulers also surrounded themselves with guards for their personal protection.
